Big Bang and 2PM Win at the ′MTV VMAJ 2013′

Korean boy groups have been winning big in Japan, as Big Bang and 2PM beat out many prominent artists to win awards at MTV Japan′s Video Music Awards Japan 2013 (MTV VMAJ 2013).
Big Bang was able to win the Best Dance Video award for the music video for its song Fantastic Baby at the ceremony held on June 22.
Nominees included group_inou, Megumi Nakajima, Skrillex and Jed. Fantastic Baby is also second in rank on Japan′s YouTube video chart based on views for 2012.

2PM won an award for Album of the Year with its second studio album Legend of 2PM. The group beat out Kana Nishino, Linkin Park and One Direction.

The group relayed their thanks through a video, as it was unable to attend due to its concert in Seoul and said, "Last year we were honored to have performed with brilliant artists at the ceremony, and this year we want to thank you for again giving us such a great award. We′re sorry we couldn′t be there because of our concert in Korea. We′ll work hard to become a better 2PM."

According to a local official, Big Bang and 2PM are considered to be two of the hottest Korean groups, appealing not only to fans of the Korean wave but also to the general public. The two groups were previously listed for holding the best concerts on Oricon Style last year, and also held concerts at the Tokyo Dome.

MTV VMAJ is a global music video ceremony that has met its 12th year this year, and awards artists across 16 categories.
