Big Bang’s G-Dragon Sends 90 Degrees Bows to His Juniors

The folder greeting came back as Big Bang G-Dragon won his first trophy for his second album, on Mnet’sM COUNTDOWN. 

On September 12, G-Dragon won number one for his song, Black, surrounded by all of his juniors on the stage of M COUNTDOWN in the CJ E&M Center. 

After he said his thank you speech, he began to give 90 degrees bows to everyone on the stage, surprising some of the singers on the stage, who quickly returned the greeting. 

When everyone got off the stage, he once again gave his trademark bows to his fans in the audience for the win. 

G-Dragon has a good track record of sending respectful bows in every performance he takes part in. 

Meanwhile, his second solo album, Coup d′Etat will be released on September 13 in offline stores.

Pharrell Suggests Collaboration with Big Bang’s G-Dragon and Mina Kwon

Will there be some kind of collaboration between Big Bang’s G-Dragon, Pharrell Williams, and designer Mina Kwon?

On September 9, after Mina Kwon and G-Dragon exchanged a few tweets mentioning Pharrell, Pharrell Williams tweeted, “These two are amazing talents. Korean art is vast and next level. Time to collab.”

G-Dragon replied, “Do it. Let’s do it!”

The Korean media began reporting on the tweets, accidentally referring to Mina Kwon as G-Dragon’s older sister, and later his cousin.

YG Entertainment has stated that Mina Kwon and G-Dragon are not related but merely have the same last name (as do many others, we might add). The agency also mentioned that G-Dragon and Mina Kwon are close friends.

Big Bang’s G-Dragon Goes Black with YG Trainee Jennie Kim

Making his anticipated comeback on a music program, Big Bang’s G-Dragon took over the stage of SBS’Inkigayo.

On September 8, G-Dragon performed Michigo, Black, and Niliria. Particularly eye-catching was the special performance of Black, which G-Dragon performed with YG trainee, Jennie Kim. 

Jennie Kim appeared in G-Dragon’s That XX music video ahead and has been grabbing attention featuring in G-Dragon and Seungri’s albums.

G-Dragon Shows His Inner Fanboy for Seungri

On September 8, Big Bang member and solo artist G-Dragon visited his fellow member’s fan-signing event and posted photographs on his Instagram account showing the close-knit bond amongst YG label mates.  

G-Dragon visited Seungri, who is promoting a new solo mini-album, took pictures, and received Seungri’s autograph.  G-Dragon posted the following caption with the photographs: “I met Seungri Oppa and got his signed CD.  I didn’t get any sleep today.”  In the photographs, Seungri looks surprised and happy to see G-Dragon.  

On August 19, Seungri released his second mini-album “Let’s Talk About Love” which has six tracks including: title track “Gotta Talk to U” and eponymous track “Let’s Talk About Love” which features fellow Big Bang members G-Dragon and Taeyang.  Seungri’s first mini-album “V.V.I.P” was released in 2011. 

G-Dragon released his second full-length album “COUP D’ETAT” on September 5 which features collaborations with artists Missy Elliott, DJ Diplo, and Sky Ferreira.  G-Dragon’s first full-length album “Heartbreaker” was released in 2009, and was followed by a mini-album “One of a Kind” released in 2012.

G-Dragon Releases Part 2 of “Coup D’état” Album and “Crooked” MV

G-Dragon has just released part 2 of his new solo album “Coup D’état” and the music video for the title track “Crooked.” 

“Crooked” is composed and written by Teddy and G-Dragon and is a track that is sure to get you jumping on your feet with the powerful beat and angry lyrics.

Part 1 of  has been released online September 2. Part 2 is available online starting today and the full album will be released offline September 13.

G-Dragon Tells Suzy to Buy His Song From His New Mini Album “COUP D`ETAT”

Big Bang‘s G-Dragon had a short answer for miss A‘s Suzy when she complimented one of the tracks on his new mini album, “Coup D-Etat.”

On September 3 Suzy wrote on her Twitter, “Black. The song is good. Black, black.” Suzy was referring to one of the tracks on G-Dragon’s new mini album.

G-Dragon replied back on Twitter with a short and curt message: “Then go buy it.” Perhaps he felt that his reply was too brusque because he deleted his tweet not too long after. 

Netizens who caught the tweet before it was deleted remarked that “G-Dragon is a cool guy, “The two must know each other,” and “I wonder how Suzy would have responded.”

Recently, G-Dragon gave a performance on “Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook” and will release a new album on September 13 with remix versions of “Window” and “Black.” Suzy was seen filming for the Idol Olympics.

All Big Bang Members to Join G-Dragon at “One of a Kind’ Finale Concert

A local news agency is reporting that Seungri, Taeyang, T.O.P, and Daesungwill be joining teammate G-Dragon on stage during his “One of a Kind The Final” concert to show their support.

G-Dragon will be holding the final leg of his “One of a Kind” concert tour in Seoul for two days, August 31 and September 1, at the Olympic Park Gymnastic Stadium. A source from the industry said, “Big Bang is currently debating which day, August 31 or September 1, to go on stage. But it is certain that there will be a Big Bang stage during G-Dragon’s concert.”

G-Dragon is also planning to perform for his new solo album “Coup d’état” at this concert. The album comes out September 2.

G-Dragon Releases First Teaser Pic for “Coup D’Etat”

Big Bang member and solo artist G-Dragon has released his first teaser pic for his upcoming second full-length album “Coup D’Etat.” 

On August 26, G-Dragon retweeted a tweet from YG Family releasing his first teaser pic with the caption: “[G-DRAGON – ‘COUP D’ETAT’ TEASER PIC #1] originally posted by http://yg-life.com.”  In the teaser pic, G-Dragon’s face is hidden by a black ski mask and only his eyes gazing steadily at the viewer can be seen.  Across the bottom half of the pic are the words: “COMING VERY SOON.  G-DRAGON. COUP D’ETAT.”

On August 24, Big Bang member and solo artist G-Dragon uploaded a photograph onto his Instagram account with the caption: “FINALLY #missybaby #gdragonbaby #LA.”  In the photograph, G-Dragon poses with his arm around Grammy Award-winner and hip hop/R&B legend Missy Elliott. 

G-Dragon flew to Los Angeles on August 23 ahead of his performance on “M COUNTDOWN What’s Up LA” at KCON 2013.  “M COUNTDOWN What’s up LA” will feature artists such as G-Dragon, EXO, 2AM, Teen Top, and f(x), and it will be the music chart’s first time visiting the U.S.  The show was brought to the U.S. as part of KCON 2013 which is the largest Korean pop culture convention in North America.  KCON 2013 will be held from August 24-25, 2013 at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena.

G-Dragon Flies in Style to Los Angeles for KCON 2013

On August 23, Big Bang and solo artist G-Dragon was spotted at the Incheon International Airport outside of Seoul, South Korea.  G-Dragon will be taking a flight to Los Angeles for MNET program “M COUNTDOWN What’s up LA” which will be a live show held on Sunday, August 25. 

The fashionista was dressed in a black ensemble topped by a loose green plaid button down.  Though dressed comfortably and practically for a long flight, G-Dragon kept his look stylish with matching accessories, even his earphones were coordinated in green.

Missy Elliott to Perform at KCON 2013′s M!Countdown: What’s Up LA! Concert

KCON just announced that rapper Missy Elliott will be performing at the first U.S. recording of MNET’s M!Countdown on August 25 during KCON 2013! 

Missy Elliott will be joining the star-studded KCON lineup, including G-Dragon,EXO, f(x), Teen Top, 2AM, Dynamic Duo, Super Junior M‘s Henry, and Yoo Seung Woo. 

Back in June, G-Dragon revealed that his second solo album, due out on August 18th, will feature the Grammy-winning rapper. Although specific stages for the two have not been revealed, we are definitely looking out for a joint performance between the two artists!

KCON 2013 will be held at Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena on August 24 – 25. Ticket prices range from $60 to $300, and can be found at www.kconusa.com.

G-Dragon Accused of Putting on Blackface in Tribute to Trayvon Martin

Big Bang‘s G-Dragon is making the news in Western news sources, but not because of his concerts or his music. The popular K-Pop rapper has caused controversy with an Instagram photo that may not have been very well thought out.

The picture in question was shared through his official Instagram account on July 30. In it, he wears a gray T-shirt over his head and has his face painted black. Along with the picture comes the simple caption, “X.”

G-Dragon has been known to post unusual photos before, but this one came in bad timing. Online news sources pointed out that the picture looks similar to the trend of American artists paying tribute to slain American youth Trayvon Martin by wearing a hoodie. With the black paint on G-Dragon’s face, the picture comes off as a distasteful homage to Trayvon Martin.

Trayvon Martin was a Florida teenager who was gunned down by George Zimmerman, a member of the neighborhood watch. Zimmerman claimed that he shot the teenager out of self-defense and was acquitted of all charges in a highly controversial trial last month. 

After the controversy was picked up by major news sources such as SPIN Magazine, LA Times, and the Guardian, a representative for G-Dragon emailed SPIN and explained that it was “a HUGE misunderstanding… The face paint is only a color variation for his album cover which includes black, white, and red. It is in no way meant to be a political or racial statement… It’s being derived by a simple photo shoot where GD was using different face paint colors for his upcoming album.”

The picture is still up on G-Dragon’s Instagram and has 104,000 likes and many messages of support for the rapper from his fans.

Big Bang's G-Dragon Grows a Beard

G-Dragon posted a picture of his new beard on his Twitter on July 29, with the words, “ 12 o’clock done.” He is presumably sitting at his car after having finished his work for the day.

He can be seen wearing a red snapback and shades, looking like a mischievous adolescent boy. Reflected on his shades was his tattooed arm, holding his phone.With a new patch of hair on his chin however, there was something more mature about his look.

Netizens responded with growing curiosity. “Are you in the middle of a transformation,” “Daebak,” “Is the look related to his new solo album concept?”

In the meantime, G-Dragon was caught spending multiple overnights at the YG studio working on his project.

Big Bang’s G-Dragon and Soo Joo Pictorial for Vogue Korea

Extremely hard to tell apart, Big Bang’s G-Dragon and model Soo Joo took over the photoshoot with their dazzling looks.

On July 18, fashion magazine, Vogue Korea released a short black and white video featuring scenes from the photoshoot involving both stars.

They both sported long platinum blond hair with smokey eye makeup, making them appear like twins. 

The pictorial from this shoot will be included in Vogue Korea’s 17th anniversary issue.

Big Bang′s G-Dragon to Release Solo Album with Missy Elliott

G-Dragon will be joining forces with Missy Elliott to showcase some true hip-hop.

On June 25, YG′s Yang Hyun Suk announced through YG′s official blog that G-Dragon will be returning with another self-produced album this year.

The news especially drew interest as it was revealed that Missy Elliott will be featured in the album.

Yang Hyun Suk wrote, "On August 18, 2009, G-Dragon released his first solo album in celebration of his 21st birthday. This year, again on August 18, four years since the release of his first album, G-Dragon plans to release his second."

The album will contain a total of 10 new songs, all written and produced by G-Dragon himself.

Rather than pull in many overseas artists, YG staff seem to have agreed that they should rather invite one legendary artist to work on the album.

"We had a lot of candidates for male rappers, but YG wanted a female rapper. The answer was so simple and easy; everyone pointed toward one person: Missy Elliott."

The track featuring Missy Elliott will be a new type of hip-hop that incorporates traditional Korean sounds. It will use a voice sample from the folk song Nililiya.

Yang Hyun Suk said more info on the album is yet to come, and hinted that he would return on June 26 with news about Taeyang′s solo album.

G-Dragon Falls in Love with Gaho’s Doppelganger!

G-Dragon just could not take his eyes off of his pet Gaho‘s doppelganger!

On June 17, sources shared that G-Dragon had a great time filming for an advertisement with a Chinese Sharpei named Laceau. Due to his busy overseas schedule, G-Dragon was not able to spend much quality time with Gaho so it is reported that he loved spending time with Laceau.

The seven-month old puppy Laceau was brought from New York, specially for this advertisement with G-Dragon. G-Dragon stuck by Laceau all throughout the filming. He played with the puppy and said, “Laceau’s eyes look sleepy,” then pulled back the wrinkles on its head and said, “But he’s not sleepy when he’s filming!”

G-Dragon was so captivated byLaceau, he even said, “I think I’m being brainwashed by Laceau right now.”

G-Dragon is “Trapped in a Lab” for “Cosmopolitan”

The fashion magazine “Cosmopolitan” has released pictures of the fashion spread G-Dragon participated in for its July issue. The concept of the photo shoot was “Sexy G-Dragon trapped in a laboratory.” Dressed in his signature unique and unconventional style, G-Dragon stands out in the a beat-up and run-down laboratory setting. 

G-Dragon revealed in the accompanying interview that his ideal type is a woman with good sense. He said, “I like a woman with a good sense in fashion and in every word she speaks.” He added, “If she was also pretty, that would be good too.”

G-Dragon also said that during his off-time, he likes to chatter with other men at the office. “Once we start, we can’t stop talking about women, music, life, and American dramas because we have similar tastes.”

He continued, “Like the album title, ‘Wild & Young’ is my life’s motto. I don’t think an artist who does music should ever mature. I think I will wear red clothes even when I am a grandfather.”
