YG Entertainment’s Survival Program “WIN: Who is Next?” to Premiere August 23



he date has been finalized! YG Entertainment‘s new survival program “WIN: Who Is Next?” premieres next week on 23 through the cable channel tvN at 10PM.
“WIN: Who Is Next?” is being produced by YG Entertainment to select the members of the agency’s next boy group. The agency’s last boy group debut was that of Big Bang seven years ago. Through the program, eleven of YG’s trainees will be divided up into two teams, “A” and “B,” and compete to win over the public’s hearts. Their fate rests in the public’s hands, as fans will be able to vote to decide which team gets to debut. The winning team will be using the official group name, “WINNER,”  to debut right after the survival series finishes. 
Included  in team “A” is YG’s latest solo rookie artist, Kang Seung Yoon, andLee Seung Hoon from the survival audition show “”K-Pop Star”.” The average age of the team is 20, and there are five members in the team. Team “B” has six members with the average age of 17.  B.I., a 17-year-old rapper who was featured in MC Mong‘s “Indian Boy” track back in 2009, is in team B.
YG Entertainment announced that the press conference for the show will be held on August 20, at which both Yang Hyun Suk and the eleven competitors of “WIN” will be present.
The agency also informed that G-Dragon and Taeyang, YG’s artists with the longest training period history, will be adding their input to the competitions in the program and will also be providing advice to their juniors. In addition, a track of  G-Dragon’s upcoming album, “Shake the World,” will be arranged to be the title song for the program. 
The countdown begins!

2NE1 or CL to Make a Comeback/Debut in May




On May 13, YG Entertainment released another mysterious comeback teaser with an even narrower choice of potential comebacks.

The poster blacked out the other artists from before and highlighted 2NE1 and CL, signaling an anticipated comeback or a solo debut to come.

The comeback will happen on May 28.

Super Junior’s Choi Siwon and Psy Hit Up Met Gala, B.A.P Takes on LA and More



Super Junior’s Choi Siwon tweeted a photo from the flipside, writing “See you tonight NYC! Let’s enjoy.”


Later that day, he updated fans with another photo from the Met Gala, writing “Couldn’t spend a lot of time with you due to time constraint.”

The Super Junior member wasn’t the only one K-Pop star who made an appearance at this year’s Met Gala, as Psy mingled with a few famous faces in true world star style at the event.


Psy tweeted a photo with actress and Iron Man 3 star Gwyneth Paltrow, tweeting “making new friends at #MetGala.”


He also got friendly with Queen Bey, writing “finally talked to @Beyonce about "single ladies" at #MetGala.”


B.A.P updated fans from the west coast, as Himchan posted a photo with Bang Yong Guk on his Instagram on May 7, writing “Bbang chan #LA #shopping.”



Daehyun tweeted a photo with Zelo, writing “Arrived in America! Thank you to all of the the fans who came out to see us!!”


Back in Korea, Super Junior’s Ryeowook was holding the radio airwaves down, as indicated by a photo tweeted bySuper Junior’s Kiss the Radio’s Twitter handle, along with the message, “Title: That man’s sour smile……Hello…? It’s DJ Ryeowook, who came to KBS early because he had the time wrong…This man, who came early and is preparing for the broadcast!! Is cool!! He’s handsome!!!”


Meanwhile, Donghae caught The Aging Family on the big screen, tweeting a photo with the film’s director and writing “’The Aging Family daebak!! The director, whom I love!! Please show a lot of love.”


Shinhwa’s Shin Hye Sung recently celebrated his eighth anniversary as a solo artist, as indicated by a photo of the singer was posted on Shinhwa Company’s official Facebook page on May 6. A message was included with the post, reading “[The administrator’s word] This is a notice about Shin Hye Sung-nim’s eighth anniversary as a solo artist. Today’s selca has been released to deliver his thankful heart to everyone who congratulated him. Variety is just variety! You were all shocked by Shin Hye Sung-nim’s acting skills, huh? He has joined the ranks of ‘actor.’ See him on stage soon as ‘singer’ Shin Hye Sung.”

YG Entertainment’s artists got fresh with Will Smith and his son, Jaden Smith, who landed in Korea to promote their new film After Earth.


G-Dragon posted a photo with the father and son on his Instagram, writing “4EVAFRE$$$$$$$$$H #foreverfresh.”


2NE1’s CL posted a similar photo on her Instagram with the caption “foreverfresh!!!”


Yang Hyun Suk also got some face time with Will Smith in a photo captioned “Will Smith in the house.”


BoA updated fans with a photo from Italy and the caption “Ciao~~~~!! Spettacolare~~.”

YG Family Hangs Out with Will Smith and Jaden Smith at YG HQ





Bringing a whole lot of talent into one room, YG Family met up with Will Smith and Jaden Smith at the YG headquarters in Korea.


On May 6, Will Smith and Jaden Smith hit up the YG headquarters, located in Hapjeong, to meet with the talented bunch at YG Entertainment. It turned out that the father and son knew a lot about YG Entertainment with both having music careers and interest in music.

Through the YG Entertainment blog, a photo was released showing Will Smith and Jaden Smith with Big Bang’s G-Dragon, Taeyang, T.O.P, 2NE1’s CL, Yang Hyun Suk, Teddy and Choice37.

G-Dragon, Yang Hyun Suk and CL also released individual cuts with the talented pair through their Instagrams. 


Conversing about music and other details, Yang Hyun Suk, exchanged contact information with Will Smith, while G-Dragon and Jaden Smith played each other’s music for one another and promised to meet again.

Will Smith and Jaden Smith, along with the 17-people staff then headed to the famed YG Headquarters cafeteria, where they were served bibimbap and bulgogi.

“YG Family, myself included, are huge fans of Will Smith, so when we heard that he expressed his desires to visit first, we were very surprised and excited,” said Yang Hyun Suk. “Both father and son were very kind and my impressions of them have only gotten better.”

YG Entertainment Asks Who’s Next for Comeback in May





Teasing fans, YG Entertainment unveiled a new poster, signaling a new comeback to come.
On May 6, YG Entertainment uploaded a poster on its official blog with the highlighted text, “Who’s Next?” along with the comeback date of May 28.

For whom the poster is for is yet to be revealed, but can vary from a wide range of YG artists, some of who were listed on the poster, including Big Bang, 2NE1, Gummy, Kang Seung Yoon, YG’s new artist, as well as many more.

After being disappointed with several promises of comebacks that weren′t completely fulfilled, most fans are keeping their expectations low and preparing themselves for what’s to come on May 28.

YG Global Auditions to be Held in Thailand




Hoping to find new talent, YG Entertainment will be holding its global auditions in Thailand.

On March 25, YG Entertainment released a 38-second video about its 2013 YG Thailand Audition, which will take place on April 27 and 28 at the Siam Discovery Center in Bangkok. The audition will be open to anyone born in 1994 and older. Email and walk-in applications will be accepted.
