The 32-year-old singer opened up her performance sitting behind a piano while a video tribute to New York City served as a backdrop to her song Empire State of Mind.
A gaggle of female dancers stepped out on the stage, which had a changing LED-screen viewable to the audience in the highest rafters.
The medley continued, transforming into a reggae version of her latest hit, Girl on Fire.
At one point, her son even wandered off to hang out with fellow Super Bowl performer Beyonce and her husband Jay-Z, who were sitting just a few feet away.
