Kim Soo Hyun and Jun Ji Hyun Reunite to Headline Fantasy Drama “The Man from the Stars”

Kim Soo Hyun and Jun Ji Hyun, who previously worked together in the blockbuster hit “Thieves,” will be reuniting to headline the upcoming SBS drama “The Man from the Stars.“

Jun Ji Hyun has recently accepted the lead female role for the new SBS drama, marking her return to the small screen in fourteen years after 1999′s “Happy Together.” Kim Soo Hyun is also making a welcomed return to TV after the hit drama “The Moon that Embraces the Sun” and the movies “Thieves” and “Secretly and Greatly.”

“The Man from the Stars” will be a romantic-comedy about a top actress named Chun Song Yi and an alien who came to earth 400 years ago taking on the name Do Min Joon. It is written by Park Ji Eun (“You Who Rolled in Unexpectedly“) and directed by Jang Tae Yoo (“Tree with Deep Roots“). 

“The Man from the Stars” is expected to air in December.

It’s only August but fashion magazines are already starting to publish fall fashion spreads, signaling the cooler weather to come in some parts of the world. For the August issue of “Grazia,” actor Kim Soo Hyun pulls on the long-sleeves and coats despite shooting under the hot summer sun. 

Kim Soo Hyun rocks the rebel without a cause look in a leather coat and hoodie in one picture, captured casually walking down the street. In another, he adorns shades, looking cool as a cucumber despite the wool coat he wears. In the featured picture above, Kim Soo Hyun makes a surprising fashion choice by wearing a shawl that looks to be inspired by a black swan concept.

Giving fans an extra treat, Kim Soo Hyun will appear in person as fans watch Secretly, Greatly in USA. 

With Secretly , Greatly premiering in US on July 19 and in Canada on July 26, Kim Soo Hyun will pay a visit to theaters in Los Angeles and San Diego to thank the movie viewers. 

According to ShowBox Media on July 19, Kim Soo Hyun will be hopping from theater to theater on July 19 and 20, visiting LA Universal Studio’s Citywalk 19, Orange 30, Norwalk 20, as well as San Diego’s Fashion Valley 18. Secretly, Greatly is about a North Korean spy who gets sent on a mission to South Korea to live as the village idiot until further instructions. Based on a popular webtoon series, the movie gained more than 6,940,000 views, recording as the fourth most viewed movie in 2013.

Suzy recently explained dating rumors surrounding her and former co-star Kim Soo Hyun, according to the Korea Times.

On June 26, there was a final interview for the cast of MBC’s “Gu Family Book,” which is closing up its final episodes. A dating rumor between her and Kim Soo Hyun was mentioned during the interview. The two stars had worked together closely for KBS2’s “Dream High” back in 2011.

She explained, “I asked him about the filming site for ‘Gu Family Book,’ since he had filmed here before. I thought he would know the area better than anyone else. We also caught up for a little bit.”

She added, “We still keep in touch too. I guess these rumors circulate because we are pretty close. Lately though, we have both been busy so we have not been contacting each other.”

Kim Soo Hyun Delivers the Mystery Box on ‘Master Chef Korea’

Kim Soo Hyun made a special appearance on O’live’s Master Chef Korea to deliver the mystery box.

On June 24, the staff of the cooking competition program said, “Kim Soo Hyun made a special appearance as a guest and ordered a special mission.”

With initial interest in the show, Kim Soo Hyun participated in the show by giving the mystery box mission for the top 10 contestants currently on the show. 

The mystery box will reveal the ingredients that the contestants must use to create a dish.

Other celebrities who have given mystery box missions on Master Chef Korea include model Jang Yoon Ju and actress Jun Ji Hyun.

“Secretly and Greatly” Reveals New Posters of Kim Soo Hyun, Lee Hyun Woo, and Park Ki Woong

The movie “Secretly and Greatly” has unveiled special posters featuring the main actors Kim Soo Hyun, Lee Hyun Woo, and Park Ki Woong. 

The special posters were revealed through the portal site “The Magazine.” The posters show Kim Soo Hyun, Lee Hyun Woo, and Park Ki Woong as their character in “Dark Spy” mode, in contrast to their alter ego posters. In his poster, Kim Soo Hyun wears a suit and a conflicted expression. His caption reads, “I want to go back to when I didn’t know anything.” Kim Soo Hyun plays the lead character, Won Ryu Han, who is a North Korean spy under cover as the village idiot. 

Below him is Lee Hyun Woo who plays Ri Hae Jin, a fellow North Korean in disguise as a student. In his poster, he looks less like a student but more like an actual spy with his dark gear. His caption reads, “I just wanted to be next to the leader.” 

At the end is Park Ki Woong, another North Korean who joins the two as a rocker. In his poster, he has a mysterious and serious expression. “If I’m going to live just once, shouldn’t I live it out greatly?”

“Secretly and Greatly” opened on June 5 and broke box office records for highest number of views on opening day. Kim Soo Hyun also had an intimate fan meeting for the movie.

Kim Soo Hyun wrote for the post, “Right now I am giving my all in order to get into college. I am currently giving my shot at the 2nd round of rolling admissions for several universities. Kim Soo Hyun Talks About His Bad Handwriting

Kim Soo Hyun may seem perfect, but he was recently brought to confess his greatest weakness: his handwriting.

In a recent interview with enews, Kim Soo Hyun opened up about what went on during the shoots for his film and how he feels about his newfound status.

In the process, he was brought to complain about his bad handwriting.

When a scene in which he writes a letter to his mother in the film was mentioned, Kim Soo Hyun said, "That′s right. I did my best for that scene, but my handwriting was so bad anyway...."

Kim Soo Hyun Makes His Fans Cry Tears of Joy at His Fanmeeting

Kim Soo Hyun held a fanmeeting with his fans to celebrate the premiere of his film Be Covert, Be Great.

The event was held at a multiplex theater in Seoul on June 6. It preceded the launch of his official Japanese fanclub, which was to take place with a fanmeeting on June 30, and brought together Korean fans in a close and friendly gathering.

Tickets to the event were sold out just 20 minutes after purchase methods were announced through the actor′s official webpage.

If we include the numbers for the film screening, that means that the film has now had a total of 507,910 viewers!

This is the highest number of views for the opening day of a Korean film. The film that had the previous record was “Thieves” which had an audience of 436,596 on the day it opened. In comparison, Iron Man 3 had a total audience of 422,504.

“Secretly and Greatly” is based off of a 2010 webtoon about a handsome North Korean spy who acts like the village idiot. More specifically, Kim Soo Hyun’s character pretends that he is a high-school student village idiot that wants to become a signer. Park Ki Woong, Lee Hyun Woo, Son Hyun Joo, and others also star in the movie.

Kim Soo Hyun to Visit Japan for Premiere of ′The Thieves′

Kim Soo Hyun will be flying to Japan as a thief for The Thieves.

Multiple media outlets in Japan reported on May 31 that "Kim Soo Hyun, lead of 10 Thieves (Japanese title of The Thieves), will visit Japan and attend a stage event in Roppongi."

The Thieves will screen in Japan for two weeks from June 22. It will premiere in a dubbed version, a rare incident for Korean films.

The boys of upcoming movie Be Covert, Be Great kept their word and made one girl’s Coming-of-Age Day extra special by paying a visit to her college campus.

Kim Soo Hyun, Park Ki Woong and Lee Hyun Woo were seen on the Seoul Women’s University campus on May 20, where they personally delivered flowers to the lucky winner of a Coming-of-Age Day event held in celebration of the film’s premiere on June 5.

The winner, a horticultural science and landscape architecture major at the university, wrote in, saying she wanted to have a special Coming-of-Age Day with her classmates, who are worn from tests and assignments, and ultimately beat out 7,255 applicants.

The actors made the student’s wish come true by giving out hugs and participating in a Q&A session with her class.

Song Joong Ki was Offered Kim Soo Hyun’s role in “The Moon that Embraces the Sun”

On the April 22 broadcast of tvN’s “E News,” it was reported that Song Joong Kiwas originally offered Kim Soo Hyun‘s role in the hit drama, “The Moon that Embraces the Sun.” Song Joong Ki declined the role of the Joseon King Lee Hwon because it was too similar to the role that Song Joong Ki had just played in “ Tree with Deep Roots” as King Sejong. 

Song Joong Ki had made headlines with his royal role in the 2011 drama because of his charismatic and powerful portrayal of the young Sejong. The role was even touted as the rediscovery of Song Joong Ki and led to his lead role in the fall 2012 hit drama, “Nice Guy.” Before Song Joong Ki became a nice guy, however, he was offered the role of Lee Hwon for “The Moon that Embraces the Sun,” which he declined. Kim Soo Hyun took the role instead and “The Moon Embraces the Sun” became a huge national hit in the earlier half of 2012, reaching over 40% in television ratings. It also made Kim Soo Hyun a household name with commercials and scripts flooding in to his agency.

Interestingly enough, Kim Soo Hyun is quoted to have stated Song Joong Ki’s portrayal of King Sejong as a model for his role as Lee Hwon.
