THR.
The film, which also stars
Gwyneth Paltrow, is now only second to fellow Marvel movie
The Avengers, which grossed $207.4 million in its first week of release. Overall,
Iron Man 3 has made a worldwide total at $680.1 million so far.
Coming in at number two was
Mark Wahlberg and
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson‘s action/comedy film
Pain & Gain, which brought in $7.6 million.
42, starring
Harrison Ford, claimed the number three spot with $6.2 million grossed.
Tom Cruise‘s
Oblivion and the animated film
The Croods round out the top four and five spots with $5.8 million and $945,000 earned, respectively.
Reese Witherspoon and
Matthew McConaughey‘s film
Mud continued strong in limited release with $2.2 million in its second week at the box office.
